When Restoration Hardware went searching for a flagship location in Boston, it discovered a magnificent Civil War-era structure that would require a massive remodeling effort. Built in 1863 and originally home to The Boston Society of Natural History, the historic building was a labor of love for the TCCI team. It took over 16 months to meticulously recapture much of its former glory including most of its original plaster detailing. Now this 40,000 square foot, one-of-a-kind space, showcases the original vaulted ceiling — visible from 70 ft. below. The focal point of the central atrium is a custom, steel-caged glass elevator that soars three floors, and required 13,800 man hours to complete.
